calendar roundup 2.0 (so so serious)

sigh.

so just when i thought i had made it all the way through the wilderness, the lovely and terrible jessica sent me this link. and then the next thing you knew, i had no fewer than FORTY EIGHT TABS OF CALENDARS open and was quickly sinking into the abyss.

by pushing myself, i have narrowed it down to seven. but now i am stuck stuck stuck. so: an ode to the loveliest, and a cry for help!

Snow & Graham 2012 Wall Calendar $30

it’s enormous, printed on good paper, colorful and bold. but i don’t like february or september, and could take or leave november and march. i am such a sucker for details of line though!

Sweet Fine Day’s A Year In Food $24

it’s not that big, and i don’t usually hang photos on my walls. but the artist did a gorgeous job of making each month a study in the progression of light, so you can literally feel the year ticking to a close as december nears. thoughtful and SO full of style!

Mr. Boddington’s Studio presents Criminels du Monde 2012 Calendar $25

OH MY GOODNESS.

for anyone who has ever watched the opening credits of a particularly well done 60s movie and wished the cartoon was the entire feature… this is your spirit animal. so. cool! this one is tiny, but will have me imagining fun and amusing things all year long. however, do i need to just get myself a set of saul bass postcards, hang those on the wall instead and call it a day?

Leah Duncan’s 12 Month Calendar $24

size is decent and it’s a thoughtful piece. but truth be told, i’m not sure i’m enough of a hipster for this calendar. there is obviously a part of me that will always be fed by the angular and abstract, but i don’t want to err too much on the side of ridiculousness and end up with a wall hanging that reminds me of miranda july all year round.

Southern Fete Creative’s 2012 Calendar $22

this is very sweet (and, yes, southern feeling). i have a sneaking suspicion that i am only keeping it in the running because of my irrational passion for color spectrums, and that if i were to see each page individually i would change my mind. however, their sneaky marketing means i can’t visualize that and it keeps evoking live oaks in my head instead of settling down into something manageable…

Susy Jack 2012 Calendar (lead image) $30

i’m leaning toward this one. it’s gorgeous and BIG, a foot and a half long! my one worry is that i don’t love all the months, although together they do make a striking picture. i just wonder if any one of them will be cool enough on its own.

Claudia Pearson’s 2012 Buy Local Calendar $24

the fact that this is a brooklyn-centric buy local guide already irritates me - not least because a good portion of the things you can buy or grow in brooklyn in summertime, such as tomatoes, will die here at that time because the heat is too extreme. HOWEVER. it is very tough to say no to that gorgeously feathered and lovingly rendered an image of kale, n’est pas?
